Dr. Zhong Maosen was born in Guangzhou, China in 1973. He graduated from Guangzhou Sun Yat-Sen University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in economics. In 1997, he received an MBA from Louisiana Tech University in the United States, and in 1999 he received a PhD in finance from the same school. He taught at the University of Texas and then Kansas State University for several years.
In 2003, in order to better learn from Master Chin Kung, he moved to Australia and taught at the University of Queensland Business School as an associate professor and doctoral supervisor. During this tenure, he was offered lifetime employment by the university.
As an admirer of the eminent monk Master Chin Kung's great virtue and teachings, Dr. Zhong Maosen has followed and learned from him since his college years. In 2006, Dr.Zhong Maosen renounced the worldly pursuit of being a professor and started to learn preaching on classics of Chinese culture under Master Chin Kung's guidance. He also served as an English interpreter for Master Chin Kung at international peace and education activities.
In July 2011, Dr. Zhong Maosen was ordained with the dharma-name “Ding Hong” under the seat of Venerable Master Chang Huai in Hong Kong. He later dedicated himself to propagating The Infinite Life Sutra and vowing to fulfill
The lifelong effort of Master Chin Kung —
to restore the function of Buddhism as “education.”
In 2013, Venerable Ding Hong was sent by Master Chin Kung to learn Buddhist precepts from Master Preceptor (Skt. Vinaya-Dhara) Guo Qing in Taiwan. After completing several years of learning the precepts, he continued teaching the precepts and Buddha Dharma throughout Chinese communities.
His speeches on the topics of causal education, revelations of new discoveries in space physics, Chinese traditional culture, scientifically validated Buddhism, and The Infinite Life Sutra have been well-received by the general public.
